To those of you having the problem still, I fixed it on my system (Gentoo  
x64) by compiling the latest version of pyvorbis

It seems fofix has a known compatibility issue with pyvorbis 1.4
Some people claim downgrading to 1.3 works too, but it didn't work for me

Anyway, pyvorbis 1.5 fixed it for me
